Every day people across the world engage in their every day routines, living their lives on a certain agenda. Suddenly, that comfortable routine is violently interrupted with an event or a series of events with a life changing impact. The documentaries and video materials in this category explore the causes and the aftermath of those events.

There are a number of levels on which disastrous events may occur. It is often that in the aftermath of these events that people realize how fragile some of these levels actually are.

Unfortunately, as diverse term as disaster is, it needed to be classified. The result of that classification was the establishment of two major groups. The natural process or phenomenon that may cause loss of life, injury or other health impacts, loss of assets, social and economic disruption, or environmental damage was given the common name of Natural Hazard.

The second major group is called Human-Instigated disasters and it encompasses various misfortunate events where the human factor was the responsible party. Some of the examples of such events are fires, transport accidents, industrial accidents, oil spills and nuclear explosions resulting in highly dangerous radiation waves in a large radius of the explosion.
