End Day is a docu-drama produced by the BBC, which shows various doomsday scenarios. The documentary follows the fictional scientist Dr. Howell, played by Glenn Conroy, as he journeys from his London hotel room to his laboratory in New York, and shows how each scenario affects his journey, as well as those around him, with experts who provide commentary on that specific disaster unfolds.

Mega-tsunami. In this scenario, a volcanic eruption on the island of La Palma triggers a massive release in which a significant portion of the island sinks into the sea, causing a huge mega-tsunami to race across the Atlantic Ocean and the strike the east coast of the United States, flooding most of New York, but leaving many buildings intact.

The asteroid murderer. It begins with a mysterious missile attack in a remote area somewhere in the Middle East. The missiles were soon revealed to be small fragments of asteroids, the vanguard of a much larger asteroid on a collision course with Earth, threatening to Berlin, Germany. The asteroid is found and an attempt is made to alter its course with nuclear ICBMs. The attempt fails, resulting in that the asteroid is divided into hundreds of smaller pieces with the largest piece after impact and the obliteration of Berlin.

Global pandemic. In this scenario, a mysterious virus similar to SARS or the flu breaks out, wreaking havoc as it spreads at a phenomenal rate across Europe, the UK and North America, prompting many countries to enact martial law and close its borders in a desperate attempt to quarantine the spread of the disease, but are unsuccessful.
Supervolcano. This scenario is based on the supervolcano under Yellowstone National Park erupted, incinerating everything within 100 km and the release of ash into the atmosphere which cools the earth. This segment has only issued in the United Kingdom. This scenario was explored in depth in another BBC docudrama, Supervolcano.
Foreign matter. This is the only scenario in which Dr. Howell reaches his laboratory unhindered, with people protesting and shouting: “Stop the experiment!” Exterior. Upon arrival, he and his colleagues initiate a highly controversial experiment using the world’s largest particle accelerator. The experiment quickly out of control, resulting in the creation of a new type of matter called a strangelet, which begins to consume and destroy all matter around it, starting with New York. The phenomenon wreaks havoc on the Earth’s weather systems and atmosphere, and eventually leads to off-screen Earth from destruction.
