The Holocaust, or as some call it the Shoah, was the World War II genocide of the European Jews. Between 1941 and 1945, Nazi Germany and its collaborators murdered more than six million Jews.
At the time, that number accounted for two-thirds of the Jewish population in Europe. The murders were carried out in pogroms and mass shootings. Concentration camps and gas chambers were also used by Nazis.
