The islands of Papua are home for many different ethnic groups. Sailors navigated these islands, remaining isolated until the 20th century. In the 20th century, scientists began exploring and researching these sailors and tribes.

The documentary focuses on several key aspects of living in the islands of Papua. Starting from the yam, a house that is symbol of wealth, up to the canoe builders. Canoe builders are some of the most respected workers in the community. A man without a boat is considered non-existent in the community.

When people die, their canoes are abandoned so that the currents will carry them to the sea. The islands are also home of active volcanoes.

People at the islands perform different ritualistic dances, some of which contain elements of magic. Not all of the dances are performed for religious reasons. Some of the dances are part of the courtship ritual, allowing men to turn their attention to girls they want to marry.

All in all, the islands are a subject of a traditional, magical law that regulates relations and lifestyle. The islands of Papua are some of the most interesting islands in the world, mainly because of the people living there and their traditions.
