We can safely say all dogs are amazing. Yet, some pups go above and beyond and excel at what they do. You might not know this, but there are many dogs who have made it to the Guinness Book of World Records. These doggy records might leave you scratching your head and looking for answers.
Remember, the Guinness World Records has some weird records. Let’s see those in the dogs’ category.

Fastest to Pop 100 Balloons

Toby was a Whippet from Calgary in Alberta, Canada. He broke the record for popping 100 balloons in just 28.22 seconds. That actually broke his old record, which was 36.53 seconds.
Before Toby, a Jack Russell named Twinkie form California held the record. How did Toby do it? Well, his human said they practiced by filling a pool with balloons to pop so that he could entertain the neighbors.

Longest ears

When it comes to dog’s ears, basset hounds have some of the longest. And it is no surprise that the holder of the Guinness record is a basset hound. Called Mr. Jeffries from West Sussex, England, he measured at 11.49 inches at the ears.
Mr. Jeffries was the grandson of the famous Hush puppies dog.

Balls caught with the front paws

There is a category called most balls caught with the front paws in one minute. This might be an agility exercise or competition.
And this is how Purin the Beagle got famous in viral internet videos. She is as talented as she is adorable.
Purin practiced with her human tossing balls. Her owner noticed that she could catch them with her front paws. Since then, the two practiced for 15 minutes each day in their home in Japan so that they can get ready for some record breaking.
Her record for most balls caught within one minute is 14. She also holds the record for fastest 10 meter traveled on a ball at 9.45 seconds.

Most tennis balls held in the mouth

You can probably guess the dog breed here, right? It is a Golden Retriever, named Augie. She was owned by the Miller family in Dallas, Texas.

Augie successfully gathered and held five regulation-sized tennis balls on July 6, 2003. Yes, Golden Retrievers are known for retrieving and holding things in the mouth, but five tennis balls? That is a bit much, right?

Longest tongue on a dog

Here is a fun fact, the longest tongue of a dog is almost twice as long as the one of a man. When it comes to humans, Nick Stoeberl from Salinas, California, holds the record for the longest tongue, measuring at 3.97 inches. He says his tongue is a gift.
Now consider this. Mochi, a female St. Bernard from the US, measured her tongue at 7.31 inches. Talk about a long tongue.

Fastest 100m with a can balanced on head

We said there are many strange and unusual records. Some are normal for dogs, like catching balls and carrying in mouth.
But running 100m with a can balancing on your head? That is a record held by Sweet Pea, an Australian shepherd and Border Collie mix. She was trained by her human, Alex Rothaker, to balance a soda can on her head while walking.
She walked 100m with a can on her head in 2 minutes and 55 seconds. Without even dropping it.

Fastest 10m on a walking globe

Sailor the Poodl was taken to a shelter and almost euthanized for behavioral problems. But then a trainer stepped in and took him home. The trainer? Alex Rothaker, the same guy who trained Sweet Pea to hold a can on her head.
This time, he taught Sailor to walk on a walking globe. His record for 10m on a walking globe is 33.32 seconds, and backwards at 17.06 seconds.

Animal with most photos with celebrities

Canines have become celebrities in their own way in the past several years. For example, Eddie from Frasier, Beethoven, Milo from The Mask, Marley in Marley & Me, and many more.
But the dog who has had most photos with celebrities is Lucky Diamond. She was a rescued Maltese, who stared her path with her first celebrity photo with Hugh Grant. Over the years, she has had more than 360 photos with celebrities, including Kanye West, Snoop Dogg, Kristin Stewart, Bill Clinton, and many more.
Her human, Wendy, contacted Guinness to make it official after fans encouraged her on Facebook. Lucky Diamond passed away at the age of 15. Her photos, however, live on as a memorial to how beloved she was.

Most jumps over a moving human leg in 30 seconds

You can say this is a training exercise. It is a good way to keep your dog entertained while at home during rainy days. But for some people, it is more than that. Daifuku and Toshiaki Kasuga, both from Japan, made it to the Guinness Book of World records by jumping 38 times over a moving human leg in 30 seconds.
They did on the set of 24Hour Television: Love Saves the Earth.
And we have another Jack Russell with a similar record. This girl, Jessica, and her owner, Rachael Grylls, skipped over a single rope 59 times in one minute. The feat was achieved in the UK on December 1, 2016.

Longest human tunnel traveled by a skateboarding dog

You have probably seen dogs on skateboards. Some of them take it to the next level. Dai Chan was a dog in Japan who broke the record for longest human tunnel traveled by a skateboarding dog. He rode under 33 people.
Otto the Bulldog was the previous record holder, riding through the legs of 30 humans.
