This documentary is concerned with the gruesome crimes committed by Karla Leanne Homolka and her husband Paul Bernardo. The couple was found guilty on the charges of rape and manslaughter.
They were arrested in 1993 and the trial was in 1995. The case echoed worldwide after the verdict on these charges. The deadly duo was sentenced for the rape and murder of Leslie Mahaffy and sisters Kirsten and Tammy French.
At the time, Homolka claimed that Bernardo had forced her into participation in these shocking crimes. She cooperated with the prosecution, pleading guilty on manslaughter charges, and in exchange her sentence was reduced to 12 years. The public responded to this deal in an outrage and the media characterized it as a “deal with the devil”.
Later on, new evidence emerged showing her voluntary involvement in the crimes. After her release in 2005, she married again and gave birth to a baby boy in 2007. There have been reports by the media that she moved from Canada and changed her name to Leanne Bordelais. The claims were confirmed by a journalist Paula Todd in 2012.
