Generation X is the western demographic cohort following the baby boomers and preceding the millennials. The mid-to-late 1960s is commonly used as the starting birth years, and the late 1970s to early 1980s as ending birth years.
The Generation X saw the birth of the personal computer. While Millennials grew up with smart phones, yet remember a time without them, Gen X grew up with the very first personal computers.
Yes, computers were invented before the Gen X generation, but the technology used by large companies caught up in the 1970s and 1980s.
You might think the engineering was not on the level it is today, but there were some huge engineering success during the time of Generation X.
