Imagine being allergic to your hair growing. Or being allergic to exercise, yet you want to practice gymnastics. Such is the story of Natasha Coates, a 22 year old girl who is allergic to just about everything.
She started doing gymnastics when she was just eight years old. At 18, she suffered a life-threatening allergic reaction. In the next two weeks, she got eight more allergic reactions. She says she has had more than 250 life threatening allergic reactions since she was 18 years old.
Natasha suffers from a condition called “Mast Cell Activation Disorder”. That means she has a long list of things she is allergic to, including exercise. But that hasn’t stopped her from pursuing her dream.
Natasha has switched to disability gymnastics, and has won 19 British titles. She placed first in the British Disability Championship. Disability gymnastics allows here to pursue her dream, without fear of her life.
