Both the code names Neptune and Overlord are for one single operation, and that is the Normandy Landings. The battle of Normandy lasted for two months, and it was a turning point in World War II.

Operation Overlord was the code name for the allied operation that launched successful invasion of German-occupied parts in Europe. There have been numerous documentaries on the battle, but this one is a bit different.

This documentary takes you through a different view, through the eyes of the soldiers that are preparing for the launch operation just hours before D-Day.

During Operation Overlord, allied forces from the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom participated in cooperation with Free French and Poland forces. Some minor contingents from Greece, Norway, Belgium, and the Netherlands were also included. But they all participated after the assault phase.

Listen from the soldiers, generals, and experts that were included in the battle, what was going on through their heads just hours before the battle, and during the historic battle.
