Opera was born in Italy more than 400 years ago during the Renaissance period. The term stands for a combination of vocal and orchestral music, blending it all together in a drama, visual arts, and dance performance.

For more than 400 years, opera has been inspiring people of all ages. The first opera was Dafne in 1957, written and composed by Jacopo Peri, who is widely considered founder of opera. Peri was under inspiration of an elite circle of literate Florentine humanists.

Claudio Monteverdi was another important character in the evolution of the opera. He wrote Orfeo in 1607, Arianna in 1608, and II Ritorno d’Ulisse in 1641.

Some people prefer ballet, some prefer opera. But there is no denying that both performances bring joy and elevate our cultural level. Therefore, it is nice to know something more about the history of the Opera.
