This documentary is revolving around Fishbone, an American rock band, and their struggle against racial prejudice and the music industry. The band was formed in Los Angeles, California in 1979 and their music represents the combination of rock, punk and ska.
The gained a notable group of followers in the 80s due to the amount of humor and social criticism embedded in their lyrics. Despite their efforts, the band never achieved mainstream popularity. The critics described the band as being among the “most eclectic and distinctive bands to perform in the 80s”.
The lineup of Fishbone constantly changed, with the exception of the founding members Walter Kibby, John Norwood Fisher and Angelo Moore. Along with them, the current lineup is formed by Phillip Fisher, Kendall Jones and Christopher Dowd.
The documentary premiered in June 2010 in the US and it was directed by Chris Metzler and Lev Anderson. The aim of this documentary is to show the bands career retrospectively. Among the celebrities featured in this documentary are Flea, Gwen Stefani, Ice-T and Tim Robbins. It was narrated by the famous actor Laurence Fishburne.
