Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait is a full-length feature made by Turner Prize-winning artist and filmmaker Douglas Gordon along with French artist Philippe Parren on with a very interesting premise.
It focuses on Zidane throughout the film as if it is just one man playing football! Zidane is undoubtedly one of the finest players in the history of Football and this 90-minute documentary compiled from footages of seventeen cameras following this legend around the field in the game of Real Madrid-Villareal in the Spanish league in April of 2005, is a living testimony to this fact.
There is no other film that has till date done anything similar! There are some awe-inspiring moments and some slack ones but it works astonishingly well to keep one hooked on till the end and it has an awesome background score too to go with the theme of the documentary.
Despite the one mad moment in Germany, Zidane does not deserve the ending that he got and will always remain glorified in the hearts of his millions of fans.
