A medium-sized dolphin, the short-beak is smaller than the widely known bottlenose dolphin. Adults can get up to five to eight feet in length and between 220 and 299 pounds in weight. Males are longer and heavier.
In the Mediterranean, the population of short-beaked common dolphin is listed on Appendix I, while in the North Sea, Baltic Sea, and Black Sea, the dolphin is listed as Appendix II.
