China has the world’s fastest and largest high-speed rail network, which is more than 19,000 miles. The vast majority of them were built in the past decade. The bullet train in China can reach a top speed of 217mph.
On the other hand, America has nothing close to it. It is one area in which the American industry is behind the competition. For comparison, Japan has a train that reaches 200 miles per hour, France began service on the bullet train in 1981, and it is largely finished.
But what about the US? The fastest train is the Amtrak’s Acela Express, but it has an average speed of 68mph. The train can hit 150mph at a few stretches, but that is far from a bullet train.
So, why doesn’t America have a bullet train? This documentary explores the reasons.
