Six years ago, Martin Jacques talked about the rise of China. His TED talk is even more valid today. A columnist for the British Guardian, economist Martin Jacques asked how the West makes sense of China and its phenomenal rise.

Martin is also the author of the book “When China Rules the World”. In his TED talk, he examined how the West is puzzled over the growing power of the Chinese economy. He also offers three building blocks for understanding how China has risen so high up in the ranks, and what will China become.

Jacques was a member of the Communist Party of Great Britain, and was editor of the party’s journal Marxism today from 1977 to 1991.

In addition to the Guardian, he was also a columnist for The Times, The Sunday Times, and deputy editor of The Independent.

He wrote his book When China Rules the World in 2009 in which he talks about the birth of the new world order.
