Shaquem Griffin, born in 1995, will be part of the 2018 NFL draft. What makes him a unique player is that he is a one handed football player.
He was born with amniotic band syndrome, which affected his left hand, causing his fingers not to fully develop. When he was four years old, his mother found him in the kitchen with a butcher’s knife, trying to self-amputate his fingers due to pain. The next day, his parents scheduled an amputation.
Even though he had his arm amputated when he was just four years old, he continued to play sports without his left hand. He competed in track, baseball, and football alongside his twin brother Shaquill.
From high school, to college, and now to the NFL, this video follows his story. The video focuses on his life, and what it took for him to get to this point. He entered the NFL draft as a linebacker. Shaquem become a top prospect since the combine, where he put up impressive 40 yard dash times and bench reps.
