History todays celebrates Christopher Columbus as the man who discovered America in 1492. Nowadays, people in the US get a day off work on October 10 to celebrate Columbus Day.
Columbus was an Italian explorer and navigator who completed four voyages sponsored by the Spanish crown across the Atlantic Ocean. He opened the way for widespread European exploration and colonization of the Americas.
While he is credited for discovering America, he never set foot in North America. Instead, he landed on Caribbean islands that are now the Bahamas, as well as an island called Hispaniola.
Yet, many believe he discovered America. This documentary tells us about indigenous people of the Americas living on the continent before Spanish explorer Columbus arrived.
We learn more about their art, architecture, archeology, and science.
