Some might say that Skanderbeg is the most underrated Commander in history of Warfare. His original name was George Castriot, and was known as Skanderbeg.

He was an Albanian nobleman and military commander, who served the Ottoman Empire in 1423-43, the Republic of Venice, and lastly the Kingdom of Naples until his death.

He deserted the forces of Sultan Murad II in 1443, and went on to fight against the Ottoman Empire. In Albania, the rebellion against the Empire had already been going for years before Skanderbeg deserted.

But he was instrumental in taking the rebellion to the next level. He summoned noblemen and established a military alliance with powerful Albanian noble families, and the city of Venice.

He fought against the empire for years. And while Albania did not become independent during his time, he was instrumental for later rebellions against the Ottomans.
