The legend of blood sucking vampires has captured peoples’ imagination for generations. A crack team of archaeologists and forensic scientists have uncovered hard evidence for the existence of the legend.
A vampire is a creature from folklore that subsists by feeding on the vital essence of the living. In European folklore, vampires are undead creatures that often visited loved ones and caused mischief or deaths in the neighborhoods they inhabited while they were alive.
In most folklore, Vampires are depicted as being repelled by garlic, running water, or Christian implements such as holy water and crucifixes.
Jure Grando is widely considered the first vampire. He was a villager from the region of Istria in modern-day Croatia. He lived from 1579 to 1656, and he may have been the first real person described as a vampire in historical records.
