Pythagoras of Samos was an Ionian Greek philosopher, mathematician, and founder of the Pythagoreanism movement. He is known mostly for his Pythagoras theorem, which can be applied to many things in life.
His theorem states that for all right-angled triangles, the square on the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares on the other two sides. The hypotenuse is the longest side and it’s always opposite the right angle.
Revered as a great mathematician and scientist. According to legends, he was the first man to call himself a philosopher, or lover of wisdom. His ideas were influential to many other Greek mathematicians and scientists, including Plato. Through him, he influenced all of Western philosophy.
