The Okavango river is one of the greatest in Africa. It rises in the highlands of Angola and eventually meets the flat lands of the Kalahari in Northwest Botswana.
It spreads over these flat, sandy lands creating a vast inland river delta, more than 5000 square miles.
The water is taken up by lush swamp vegetation, evaporates or sinks into the sand, the river never makes it to the sea.
Islands of Kalahari sandveld push through the delta. The largest and most isolated of these is Chief's Island. Chief's Island is Africa as it used to be, it has never been managed or controlled by man. Predator and prey flourish in natural balance and great profusion.
A day in the life of Chief's Island witnesses timeless encounters between predator and prey.
