However, in the modern world, the four Horsemen of the Apocalypse can be seen as different creatures. BBC’s own award-winning world affairs editor John Simpson shares a modern perspective on the subject.
According to Simpson, the four Horsemen can be described as Environmental Disaster, War, Organized Crime and Disease. In the documentary, Simpsons explains each part individually, and shares his views, opinions and future on the subject.
The first part is about environmental disaster, as the editor believes time is running out. The scary part is that mankind is ignoring the problem. The second horseman is War, as war has been the main problem for the entire 20th century. We’ve seen World War I, World War II, and we still have Palestine – Iran conflict, Syria conflict and many more conflicts in the world.
The third part is focused on organized crime, the new form of crime that has emerged in ways of trafficking, gambling, drugs, alcohol and much more.
Last, but not least, the editor speaks of diseases as a modern horseman of the apocalypse, with viruses and diseases such as Aids, Ebola and other treating the world’s population.
