The documentary The Origin Of AIDS discusses the origins and the worldwide spread of one of the deadliest diseases, AIDS.
The film focuses on a controversial theory about the origins of the disease. The film employs different footages and documented research experiments highlighting the careless lab procedures and the follies of a selected few individuals that has paved the way for one of the most serious and deadly pandemics witnessed by the 20th century.
The two filmmakers go back to the 1950s to draw attention to the first incident that must have triggered the origin of AIDS. According to their theory the disease must have originated due to the tainted oral vaccine used by Dr. Koprwski for eradicating polio that had crippled millions of children in Congo. The vaccine was distributed by American and Belegian missionaries in the 1950s to fight polio. This probably was the first instance that laid the foundation for the disease in African colonies.
