‘The Man who Lost his Body’ is a poignant tale of Ian Waterman, a butcher in Jersey, who lost his capacity to move after contracting a Nervous System disease that destroyed his sensory nerves rendering him unable to have an inner sense of posture or limb position to initiate or control movement or for that matter even have the faintest perception of touch. His disease was so rare that doctors in Jersey were unable to even diagnose it.
Despite being paralyzed at the young age of nineteen, Ian was determined that he was going to lead as normal a life as was physically possible for him and though he has not regained the feelings, he has made surprising recovery battling all odds.
