Howard Phillips Lovecraft was born on August 20, 1890 in Providence and died on March 15, 1937. He was an American author known for his influential works of horror fiction. He is regarded as one of the most significant 20th-century authors in his genre.
Lovecraft had developed a formidable knowledge of his favored subjects, such as history, linguistics, chemistry, and astronomy.
In 1913 he is being invited to participate in an amateur journalism association. After that he started circulating his stories. At the time of his first publication in a professional magazine he was 31. Lovecraft contracted a marriage to an older woman he had met at an association conference. By age 34, he was a regular contributor to newly founded Weird Tales magazine. Lovecraft turned down an offer of the editorship.
After his return to Providence from New York in 1926, he produced some of his most celebrated tales including "The Call of Cthulhu".
Due to the lack of confidence and the will to promote his work, Lovecraft did not achieve any commercial success and he died in poverty at the age of 46.
If you enjoy Lovecraft's works, then you shall most certainly enjoy watching this documentary, which is also a good introduction to the fabulous works of one of the fathers of the horror genre.
