Salt has a pretty bad reputation nowadays. Health and nutrition experts criticize it because it contributes to the obesity epidemic we live in.

Salt is criticized as an unhealthy ingredient. Many health experts warn that we should use less salt in our meals and dishes.

But with that in mind, there were times when salt was actually used as a trading asset. Even more, there are legends that Roman soldiers were sometimes paid in salt. That is how important salt was back during the days.

With that in mind, it is also worth noting that every cell in our body contains salt. An adult contains about 250 of salt, which is almost one box of salt.
