Markus Andersen: Photographing Sydney

This documentary is concerned with the work of an Australian photographer Markus Andersen. His work is mostly done with an analogue 35mm camera, and as he states , the images he gets from this camera are organic, they look real as opposed to the ones taken with the digital cameras.

The filmmakers follow Anderson as he roams the streets of Sydney in search for the perfect photography. He uses all means of public transport to get around the city, or the belly of the beast as he likes to refer to it.

In his opinion, the quest for the perfect photography can take weeks and one must not be afraid to press the button. Anderson sometimes uses the entire film and, as he claims, does not have a single photograph that represents what he was trying to accomplish.

This video is a documented thinking process of an artist whose work has been displayed in the United Kingdom, Toronto, New York, Istanbul, Paris and Sydney. Enjoy the landscape of Sydney, see the everyday life of one of the largest cities in the world and discover how all of that looks like through the lens of one of the best photographers in the world.
