In 1989, Forbes magazine estimated Escobar to be the seventh richest man in the world with a personal fortune of about $ 25 billion, while the Medellin cartel controlled 80% of global cocaine market. Although seen as an enemy of the United States and the governments of Colombia, Escobar was a hero to many in Medellín (especially the poor), but it was a natural at public relations and worked to create goodwill among poor people in Colombia . A sports fan of all life, is credited with building football fields and sports courts, as well as sponsoring small football teams in the league.

Escobar looked responsible for the construction of many churches in Medellín, which gained him popularity inside the local Roman Catholic Church. He worked hard to cultivate his “Robin Hood” image and frequently distributed money to the poor through housing projects and other civic activities, which earned him considerable popularity among the poor. The population of Medellín often helped Escobar by serving as lookouts, hiding information from the authorities, or do anything else I could do to protect it. Despite its popular image among the community of Escobar Medellin was well known among business partners to be an insecure, paranoid murderer, ruthless.

His brother was reported saying that Paul was so fiercely committed to the loyalty that once threatened him at gunpoint in a little misunderstanding. His brother said that his ability to make friends with the dangerous and intimidating power is what made him so unstoppable like him. At the height of his power, the Medellin drug traffickers and other areas delivered between 20 and 35% of Colombian cocaine-related benefits to Escobar.

Escobar’s ongoing struggle to maintain supremacy was in Colombia is rapidly becoming the murder capital of the world, with 7081 victims in 1991 alone. The homicide rate was driven by increased Escobar give money to poor young people, as a reward for killing police officers, 600 of whom died in this way.
