How it Works: Car Transmissions

Many of us drive a car on regular basis. We enter the car, start it, put it in drive, and go. But have you ever asked yourself how does transmission work? You know that when you shift from one gear to another, something in your car engine changes. But exactly what happens? This doesn’t apply for automatic transmission, but if you want to know what happens in your car, check the documentary.

And unlike many modern day teaching videos, the short transmission documentary doesn’t skip anything. Starting from levers, translating to gears and ratios, everyone can learn a lot from the video.

In physics, a transmission is a mechanical device that uses gears to mechanical efficiency, employing the ancient technology of the lever.

The same system applies for our car engine, but the gear box is used to provide speed and torque conversions.

At the end of the video, the one thought on your mind will be that “this is practically spoon feeding”. If you want to learn, just watch!
