The Spartan army is one of the most courageous army in the history of the world. Spartans have long been praised for their strength, determination, and resilience in battle.

But behind all of that strength, their brutal ways of forging warriors, and everything else, lays the strategy that made Spartans so successful warriors.

Sparta was one of the two wealthiest and biggest cities in Ancient Greece. The other was Athens. Spartans were second to none on the ground. Their phalanx was just unbeatable.

Here is how the Spartans fought. The main reason their phalanx was so successful was the marching formation. They marched in square formation, allowing for more density and preventing enemies from breaking their formation.

Their armor was light, allowing mobility. Because of this, Spartans were able to change formation and adjust to the battle field easily. They went from line to square in a matter of minutes.
