This documentary is written, directed and produced by Aviva Kempner. It is concerned with the life and career of Henry Benjamin Greenberg (January 1st, 1911 – September 4th, 1986). He was a professional baseball player during the 1930s to 1940s.
He was known by the nicknames "The Hebrew Hammer", "Hammerin' Hank" and "Hankus Pankus". Unfortunately, during his impressive career, he was a victim of anti-Semitism because of the fact that he refused to play on Yom Kippur in 1934.
As far as his career is concerned, he was the first baseman in the Hall of Fame, while playing for the Detroit Tigers, and he was only two home runs away from beating Babe Ruth's record of 60 home runs. Greenberg was also a five-time All-Star and two-time American League MVP.
