ABC Propaganda interesting. Planet at risk: experts say population growth, resource depletion, climate change could bring disaster in the next century. It is an idea that most of us would rather not face – that in the next century, life as we know it could come to an end. Our civilization could collapse, leaving only traces of modern human existence behind.

It seems strange, extreme – even impossible. But according to scientific research cutting is a very real possibility. And unless we make drastic changes now could very well happen. Experts have a stern warning: that unless we change course, the perfect storm of population growth, resource depletion and climate change has the potential of convergence in the next century with catastrophic results.

To prepare for the worst, we must anticipate. In that spirit, guided by some of the world’s experts in ABC News “Earth 2100″, organized by Bob Woodruff, who travels through the next century and to explore what could be our worst. But no one can predict the future, so how to address the possibilities that lie ahead? Our solution is Lucy, a fictional character created by the producers of ABC to lead us through the twists and turns of what the next 100 years might seem. It is through the eyes and experiences that can truly imagine the worst experts – and be inspired to make changes for the better.

2015, are expected to be signs of hope. Experts predict that alternative energy solutions that are currently in their infancy will gain momentum. Windmills are sprouting everywhere. Off the coast of Scotland, a wave farm is expanding renewable energy production in the ocean. Vatican City will meet with all of its energy needs with solar energy. And the U.S. occurs cleaner, more fuel efficient vehicles, according to the newly introduced emission guidelines.

But is it enough? In 2015, global demand for fossil fuels could be massive and growing, but experts say that oil will be harder to find and more expensive for the consumer. If the cost of gasoline soars, few can afford to maintain the lifestyle we are accustomed. There may be a mass exodus from the suburbs, such as driving vehicles with gas becomes economically impossible. But to convince us to change our habits?
