The possibility of oil exploitation has threatened the community of Talamanca, Costa Rica for many years. As one of the most biodiverse areas on this planet, its fertile land supports rich agriculture and a booming ecotourism industry. Petroleum companies cannot be allowed to pollute the fragile ecosystem upon which so many people depend. To not only combat the oil companies but also provide an alternative to petroleum, a group of leaders band together to form the Cooperativa de Talamanca Sostenible.
Their journey to find a source of sustainable clean energy that benefits not only the environment but also the local community serves as an inspiration for communities around the world.
