Check out all the photos from NASA’s Apollo mission

For years since the first landing on the moon, the Project Apollo has been subject to many conspiracy theories. Now, NASA is putting an end by releasing more than 10,000 photos of the missions

The Apollo program, or Project Apollo, was the project first developed during the administration of president Dwight D. Eisenhower. The goal was to land a man on the moon. The Project Apollo was the third United States human spaceflight program carried by NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration).

For years since the first landing on the moon, the Project Apollo has been subject to many conspiracy theories. Over the years we’ve had so many theories, that people started believing the photo of Neil Armstrong on the moon was photoshoped.

The Apollo program lasted from 1961 up to 1975. The space program was dedicated to President John F. Kennedy, the man who laid the plan and proposed it to Congress on May 25, 1961. He proposed a national goal of “landing a man on the Moon and returning him safely to the Earth by the end of the 1960s”. America managed to get on the moon when Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong landed their Lunar Module on July 20, 1969. At the time, Michael Collins remained in the lunar orbit in the Command/Service Module. All three of them landed safely on Earth on July 24. Five subsequent Apollo missions also landed astronauts on the moon, the last n in December 1972. During the six spaceflights, 12 men walked on the moon.

The first project, Apollo 1, never left the surface of the Earth due to malfunction. The next two missions, called Apollo 8 and Apollo 10, went orbiting around the Moon and safely returned home. Apollo 11 was the first one to land of the Moon.

After so many years of conspiracy theories, NASA decided it was too much, and decided to release more than 10,000 photos of the Apollo missions. These photos prove that the missions were a success, and put an end to all conspiracy theories.

All of the photos can be seen here, in this Flickr album.
