Bride Kidnapping in Kyrgyzstan

  • Published 8 years ago

Bride kidnapping, otherwise called marriage by snatching or marriage by catch, is a practice in which a man steals the lady he wishes to wed. Spouse seizing has been conducted as far and wide as possible and all through history.

It keeps on happening in nations in Central Asia, the Caucasus locale, and parts of Africa, and among people groups as various as the Hmong in Southeast Asia, the Tzeltal in Mexico, and the Romani in Europe.

A few societies today keep up typical spouse capturing custom as a component of customs encompassing a wedding, in a gesture to the act of lady seizing which may have figured in that culture's history.

As indicated by a few sources, the special night is a relic of marriage by catch, in light of the act of the spouse choosing total isolation with his wife to evade retaliations from her relatives, with the aim that the lady would be pregnant before the end of the month.
